Sif, why does it take so long to tying your hair?

[This is a bothersome thing about getting to her house early to surprise her. He has to watch her tie her hair and sit patiently for her to be done. And it's stupid and girly.

Thor picks at the tip of a blade in his possession. He can be thankful that Sif's mother isn't home, or there would be much embarrassment and questions that may be asked. Not that he minds, he tells himself. The Prince of Asgard won't cower at the questions of a friend's parent. He is charming in his own right and he knows it. He huffs and smiles to himself.

Then sighs.

Her mother would have made this wait a bit shorter.]

Sif! The sun will set and the water in the quarry will be all but evaporated by the time you are ready!

Because some of us do not want to look like they have just rolled out of bed, Thor.

[ It's not stupid and girly, it's smart and practical because it allows her to actually see where she's going. And anyway Thor has long enough hair for anyone to assume he is a girl - he should use the time to pick up some hints.

But she finishes tying up the last ribbon and gives both halves of her hair sharp tugs to make sure everything is in place enough to last for a little while. ]

[He scratches his own nest-like hair and shrugs. Technically he should have done something about it. He has been warned of hair-related disasters from the older warriors. But Thor is arrogant and young. Hair is the least of his concerns.]

Well. Someone of us would like to be out riding before winter comes.

[Thor huffs an agitated breath of air and pops up when Sif is finally done. He grins and gives Sif a sharp but brief tug on her hair.]

I see now you are ready to strangle an unlucky warrior with your hair.

Careful that unlucky warrior isn't you, Thor.

[Balder can only guess that Thor has some sort of death wish, tugging at Sif's hair like that. Or perhaps he has yet to be told that he's beyond the age where pulling pigtails is an appropriate way to flirt. Balder won't be the one to try to educate him.]

Though I notice that I am the only one here who could not accomplish such a feat. [In other words, your hair is long enough to swallow a person too, Thor.]

[ Sif twists and gives Thor a solid punch on the arm for his trouble. It won't make the lesson stick but it's a good try at it. ]

And someone has to learn that he does not always get what he wants.

[ She's going to be pulling her hair to the opposite side of Thor now, just in case. But she does give Balder a winning smile all the same. ]

Glad you agree. Perhaps we should tell Frigga that he has gotten sap into his hair again and that it requires her handiwork to fix?

Prince of Asgard do not pout. They frown, rub their arm and make a disgruntled face.]

Do I ever get anything that I may want when you are here, Sif?

[Ugh. Girls. He turns his attention to Balder and goes to ruffle his friend's hair playfully.]

Oh, we dare not to obscure your handsome face, Balder! The fair ladies would wilt without your full visage upon them.

[Balder smiles and runs his hand through his hair to pull it back into order or something like it. He's fairly sure that just having Sif around is a good portion of what Thor wants.]

The fair ladies will have to wilt today as it is not their favor we hunt. We should leave before we're confined to hunting during the noon sun.

[And he's standing up and putting on his pack. That's your cue to stop fighting or at least fight and walk, guys.]

[ He is totally pouting. ]

You could try asking politely.

[ But the hint is taken, and Sif eagerly grabs her own pack after making sure all her weapons are accounted for. ]

I do not know, Balder. It seems such a cruelty to pull you away from them even for a day. To speak nothing of the birds who will be bereft.

[brattler]

[He has a hand on Balder's shoulder but his attention is on Sif still. Damn this stupid age.

Thor gives Sif his most brilliant and convincing smiles, the ones he gives to Frigga when he has done wrong as a child. But he's a "man" now so this is supposed to be charming, etc. (Fandral taught him and he saw Volstagg pleading to his wife.)]

Fine.

Lady Sif, if it pleases you, may we leave the comforts of home for the adventures youth is made of?

[Balder is not going to roll his eyes, but with the grin he gives Sif might as well do so.]

If you don't come, Sif, I shall have to try to keep Thor out of trouble by myself, and that is a task far too massive for any single person. You would hardly be so cruel as to leave me alone with him, would you?

[Have Balder's most charming smile. It's a lot more effective than Thor's.]

Well if the both of you insist, I can hardly refuse.

[ Both of them get a smile - never let it be said that Sif plays favorites. Even if she really wants to roll her eyes again at Thor. It seems to be a constant in her life, even if she really does like him. ]

Though Balder certainly has the more convincing argument.

[brattler]

It matters not who convinces who. We're moving now, and that is the most important part. Balder, you have my thanks for your most convincing words, and Sif for deciding to tolerate us.

[He goes to wrap both arms around his friends' shoulders and drags them outside the house. Just the fact that the sun is rising and there's a smell of morning in the air get Thor grinning wider.

Which means they are in for a mess.]

My dearest friends!

[Translation: I love everyone in this bar.]

[Balder laughs, putting a companionable hand on the arm around his shoulders. No one has to tell him that they're in for trouble. Why else did he become friends with these two in the first place but to seek trouble?]

Quickly, Thor, lead the way before we think better of it. This was your idea, was it not?

[Not that there's any risk of Balder changing his mind. Balder is grinning just as widely as Thor is.]

[ Sif laughs as well, letting herself be dragged along. If there was one thing she could count on from anything Thor thought of was the fact it wasn't going to boring in the slightest. ]

Is it not always his idea, Balder? I can't think of once where he willingly went along with one of our ideas.

[ Well it's not completely true - there are times when Thor has listened to both of them. But it's undeniable that he comes with many of their quests and adventures. Not that Sif minds, but the thought is there. ]

[brattler]

[No, how can anyone be bored when there's blunders to be made and watching idiots doing what idiots do best - being idiots? His grin is ear to ear as he steps ahead of them and leads as he always wants to.]

Do not deny your own parts in this! When we return from defeating the mightiest of foes and capturing the brightest of jewels, I shall start the tale with this adventure being this being our idea.

And wasn't it you, Sif, who claimed that your sword has turned dull and required more challenge to inspire it sharpness once more?

You two can keep the jewels and the fame so long as I can get my hands on these promised opponents. It has been far too long since we have had anything like a proper quest.

[And by "proper" he means "none of us have nearly died recently". He follows Thor without hesitation.]
